Robert Lyons has spent his career crossing borders—between countries, languages, genres, and, perhaps most of all, between acting and writing. Born in Michigan and raised in Kansas, he attended Wabash College in Indiana on an acting scholarship, majoring in Theater and German. The combination led him to spend several years in Berlin and ultimately to a career spanning American and European theater, film, and television. He is a graduate of the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting Conservatory.

To German television audiences, Robert is best known for his three years in the principal cast of Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten (GZSZ), one of Europe’s most successful television serials. His film credits include The First American: George Washington, Lucky Fritz, The Boxer, The Countess, and the cult post-apocalyptic western Snowblind. His extensive theater credits include Coriolanus, The White Devil, Fool for Love, Orpheus Descending, and By the Way, Meet Vera Stark.

Currently, Robert is producing and starring in Up the Downhill, a television pilot he wrote. The project explores the struggles, absurdities, and persistence of pursuing an artistic dream while getting older—a theme that resonates with his own decades-long journey as an artist. After a career spent moving between countries, disciplines, and creative roles, Robert continues to pursue the work that keeps him curious and challenged.
